The Day I took off the Toyota 3A Aisan Carburetor

The Carburetor was giving me some issues lately Very low Idel it cuts off as soon after I take the foot off the throttle so without just turning the needles I took off the whole carb and gave it a  clean up

Its a Toyota 3A Engine so It had a Aisan Carb with some help with some Videos on Youtube and Some google took it apart

Will be Updating on this soon!

Brakes Fixed. Steering Fixed.Bearings Fixed.

At last was done with the Brakes,Steering,Bearings, and Ball Joints too.

Time to Pump the Brake Pedal-
Was around 7.30pm When everything was fixed and it was time to let the air out of the breaks and then she was ready to be on her feet after about 3 weeks!

Next day! On her Feet again :D

Replacing the Rear Bearings and Break Cylinders (Ford Cortina Mk3)

Then Started the Rear Mechanisms Straight away I had a Issue The Bearings were Solid as Rock and the Oil seal was Crap too the previous shit of a owner had used some sort of sealer that ruined the bearings and leaked Diff Oil So that needed to be replaced both the sides had a similar issue So went a head and replaced the oil Seals and the Bearings (For the bearings I had to do a Mod to fit them as i couldn't find the right bearings for the Cortina but Found some other That brought up ideas like the bearings will crap out soon bla bla bla... but then the Original Bearing had a single line of Balls in the bearing and this had the same single line balls aligned So what the hell it should work.

Next with the breaking had no much of a issue on the back had to replace the Brake cylinders yeah both of them that was cheep deal.

(Original Bearing of the rear hub on the Cortina Mk3)

Home made Mod to make the bearing well seat.

old Rusted Cylinders

So it starts (Replacing Front Breaks,Ball Joints & Bearings)

The Restoration Starts! First with the Mechanical Issues.

We First Started with the Breaking It Had really bad breaks from all the way when I brought it Home.

After Removing the front Tires

List of the Items I had to replace in the Front Breaking/Ball Joints/Bearings.
  • BREAK PADS -4X Break Pads had to be replaced the ones that were present on it were Re-glued pads and some were even broken off the metal So Had to got to Panchikawattha (Panchikawattha Is like Ebay motors but in real time here in Sri lanka)  to get the break pads was pretty frustrated that I will not be able to find them BUT I did find a replacement not for Ford Cortina Mk3 But For Dutsun Double Cabs Brand was Lucas So I didn't hesitate to buy them( On top are the Optional Pads Bottom are the Originals Just showing you all how compatible they look and are)

  • Break Hose (Front) - The Front break Hoses were pretty bad as well one of them was roasted and was leaking break oil. Got them Replaced too Found some good pair of hoses for just 1800/-

  • Brake Disk Pistons - Well Then after setting up the Break hoses then went on to the break pistons the Cortina Brake caliper had 4 Pistons (I have no idea why ) And all 4 of them were Rusted badly and was cutting the oil rings inside in fact they were cut pretty badly had to replace the Oil rings and the Dust covers too. So finding the break pistons were a nightmare so again while roaming around Panchikawattha I spotted a set of 4 other Pistons  that had the same width but different height So bought them and rushed to the lathe and got them cut exactly to the height and the collar or the Originals that was a Job well done by the owner of the lathe it came out perfect and saved me around 15000/- Because buying some brand new ones off ebay would have cost me at least 18K with Custom Tax.

Now as the breaks were done it was time to Replace the Ball bearings on the Front.

Front Ball Bearings - After taking the bearings that were on it and inspecting (Sorry I don't have any pics) They were ruined some needles were crushed and cracked So I Had to replace both Left and Right sides of the Cars bearings .

Ball Joints- All 4 of them were Crapped up pretty bad So I had to replace them they were available at panchikawatta luckly.

Next was the Steering rack that had a huge play in it the bearings had to be replaced and the bushing and needed a ton of greasing actually it wasn't much of a pain to deal with.

So now the Front was all done and waiting for the Back breaks/Bearings etc to be fixed.
